It has been a month since the IESF qualifiers have ended and our four national teams had qualified themselves for the Finals that will take place in the upcoming days in Eilat, Israel. An amazing performance that we never managed to achieve before.&nbsp;Nonetheless, it is with great sadness that today, we have to announce the withdrawal of the competition for three of our teams (CS:GO, DOTA 2, eFootball).&nbsp;Despite the immense work of the differents teams and the BESF to make all of this possible, the travel and entry restrictions on Israeli territory resulting from the health crisis are forcing us to make this decision.&nbsp;As a result, we inform you that only our TEKKEN player, PikaH, will represent Belgium’s colors at the event. Thanks a lot to all our fans and sorry for those of you who expected us there.&nbsp;We will come back stronger next year.

The Belgian Esports Federation (BESF) is thrilled to welcome Nalin Chaturvedi as the new Vice-Chair of the Player Engagement and Community Development Commission. With experience across six countries and three continents, Nalin has made his mark in the sports, entertainment, and esports industries. His background, which includes semi-professional football in India and coaching, has been instrumental in shaping his approach to building strong communities and connections within the esports world.Nalin’s journey in esports began in South India, where he organized local LAN tournaments. Later, he co-founded an esports coaching company in Iceland, focusing on promoting positive social values through gaming. His work at the Rio 2016 Olympics deepened his passion for sports, leading him to pursue further opportunities in event operations and sports retail. His multifaceted experience allows him to blend his traditional sports expertise with modern esports trends seamlessly.A major milestone in Nalin’s career was his time at the International Olympic Committee (IOC), where he contributed to athlete engagement efforts at major global sporting events, including the Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 Olympics. He played a pivotal role in shaping the IOC’s virtual sports strategy and helped organize the inaugural Olympic Virtual Series in 2021, marking a significant intersection between traditional sports and esports on the Olympic stage.Currently working with ESL FACEIT Group, one of the world’s leading esports tournament organizers, Nalin manages relationships with game publishers and supports the growth of global esports ecosystems. His recent involvement in the first-ever Esports World Cup in Saudi Arabia further highlights his expertise in the field. At BESF, Nalin will focus on energizing local esports communities and deepening player engagement, strengthening Belgium's vibrant esports landscape. &nbsp;

The Belgian Esports Federation (BESF) is proud to announce the addition of Liesbeth Last to our team as our Educational Strategist. Liesbeth brings a wealth of experience and passion to this role, with a deep commitment to integrating esports into educational settings.Liesbeth Last is a dedicated gamer/entrepreneur, researcher at KU Leuven, educational technologist and teacher of esports. She is well-known for her monthly teaching impulse at KU Leuven, where she explores the educational potential of video games by working thematically with popular titles. In her role as an esports teacher at KTA Bruges, Liesbeth emphasizes business, event management, well-being, and talent development through gameplay. She also serves as the&nbsp;facilitator of the high school esports teams, nurturing the next generation of esports talent.In addition to her teaching roles, Liesbeth is a member of the Board of Directors at Gamehive.be, where she focuses on motivating and developing young talent through video games. Her work aligns perfectly with the goals of BESF, where she will be the primary point of contact for educators and schools seeking to incorporate esports into their curricula.Liesbeth’s expertise and vision are invaluable as BESF continues to advocate for the positive impact of esports in education. We are thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the innovative strategies and insights she will bring to our federation.
