The Montenegro Future Festival 2026 in Bar confirmed its position as a leading global event at the crossroads of esports, technology, and culture, bringing together over 400 speakers and key international stakeholders.

The Belgian Esports Federation delegation recently attended the highly anticipated Blast Open Rotterdam, marking an important step forward in regional esports collaboration. Hosted at the iconic Ahoy Rotterdam arena, the event brought together top-tier competition, industry leaders, and key stakeholders from across Europe.

During the Inter-Home Games 2026 in Brussels, seniors discovered esports through an energetic and engaging e-bowling competition. Combining inclusion, teamwork, and the joy of playing, the event showed that gaming brings generations together.

The first run of the Esports Events Incubator has been concluded with 6 amazing esports events in 2026 that will receive a subsidy from the BESF! Supported by the players of the National Lottery, we set up a first pilot of the incubator with a budget of 5000 euros to stimulate stakeholders to organize more events, to reduce financial risks for them and to guide them to make their event more successful. 13 Applications were received that were judged by a jury with extensive expertise in esports and/or event management. Of those 13 applications, 6 strong events ultimately received a subsidy.

The BESF has applied as National Team Partner for the ENC, a new international championship between nations in 16 esports titles. This means that the BESF would be responsible for selecting and supporting the national teams, as well as managing a part of the 20 million dollar development fund.

Rupert Hoop Appointed as New Head Coach of Belgian National CS Team

A brand new, innovative campus dedicated to esports and exergaming: a first in Europe, right here in Belgium. It sounds like a crazy idea but it is actually becoming reality at an increasing pace! The high school of KTA Brugge, school group Impact and the college of Howest have joined forces to make this esports campus come to live in 2026. The BESF went to their preview at the building in Oostkamp where the new campus will be to see what amazing progress has been made in just a year's time.

The Esports Events Incubator: a brand new support program to encourage and help our stakeholders with organizing more grassroots esports events. The BESF aims to grant a subsidy to between 5 to 10 new esports events in 2026! All information and the application form can be found in this article.

The Belgian Esports Federation is proud to be involved in two major European initiatives aiming to improve the health and wellbeing of esports players: the GG Project and the E-Health Project. Both projects are Erasmus+ funded collaborations between academic institutions, esports organisations, and policy experts across Europe, each dedicated to addressing important aspects of life in esports.

With his expertise in sport science, coaching, and esports performance, Matt joins us as Vice-Chair Health & Wellbeing and will play a key role in our mission to elevate health and performance in esports.
