24-26 April 2026 - The 4th edition of the Montenegro Future Festival (2026), held in the stunning coastal city of Bar, has firmly established itself as one of the most influential gatherings at the intersection of esports, technology, and culture. What began as a regional initiative has now evolved into a truly global platform, attracting participants and stakeholders from across Europe, Asia, and beyond.

Across three vibrant days, the festival brought together more than 400 speakers, contributing to a diverse programme of panel discussions, cutting-edge technology showcases, and top-tier international esports competitions. The event highlighted not only the competitive excellence of esports but also its broader ecosystem, uniting key decision-makers and innovators from multiple sectors.

High-level representation included members of government bodies, ministers, national sports authorities, and the President of the National Olympic Committee, alongside international esports institutions such as the Global Esports Federation (GEF) and the International Esports Federation (IESF). Integrity in esports was also a central topic, with the presence of the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC), reinforcing the importance of governance and fair play.

The festival further welcomed leading global stakeholders, including publishers such as Tencent and Moonton, infrastructure leaders like Alibaba Cloud, and world-renowned event organisers such as BLAST. Universities, media organizations, and startups were also strongly represented, contributing fresh perspectives and innovation to the discussions. Together with investors and industry leaders, their participation underlined the strategic importance of the festival within the global esports calendar.

Belgium was proudly represented by the Belgian Esports Federation (BESF). Commissioner of Competition and National Team, Samy Bessi, engaged in key meetings and took part in a panel on Diversity in Esports, presenting Belgium’s ongoing initiatives and commitment to inclusion. Liezbeth Last, member of the BESF Education Commission and professor at KTA Brugge, contributed to a forward-looking discussion on building esports talent from the classroom to the professional arena.

Beyond esports and technology, the Montenegro Future Festival distinguished itself by embracing the cultural richness of the country. Through immersive experiences blending mixed reality and local heritage, the event offered a unique environment where tradition and innovation coexist.

 

The 2026 edition once again demonstrated that the Montenegro Future Festival is not only a regional success story, but a growing global hub shaping the future of esports and digital culture.
