BESF is excited to announce its new plans and staff for Counter-Strike. In 2026 we aim to have Belgium represented with a men's, women's and academy team. Over the next few months we will be working hard and recruiting with help of our new staff team. Head Coach Rupert Hoop will be supported by our new Team manager and Creative director Gwen ‘SanGuine’ de Jonge. She will be using her experience to help us elevate this project to a higher degree of quality! Rupert will also be directly supported by Maxime ‘heidi’ Deckers. He will be assuming an assistant coach role within the men's team, while also becoming Head Coach for our women’s team. We have also secured a Coach to spearhead our Academy team. Timmy Michiels, better known as tiborw0w in the BeNeLux scene, will be bringing his expertise and passion as owner of Strael-Bora to the team to help prepare the next generation of Belgian CS Phenoms. Finally Thijs ‘jNoxx’ Bastiaens will be assisting us in a more generalized role where he will be focussing on advisory roles and casting depending on availability.
Our plans for the Academy team will build up gradually. We intend to have one or two practice evenings per week and welcome Belgian players between the ages of thirteen and twenty one. It is important to note that we have no desire for this to collide with players’ own teams in for example the ESEA leagues, and we are happy to look for possibilities for these two to mutually coexist in a players’ schedule. This should be seen as an extra opportunity to grow as young Belgian player.
We are looking at the possibility for the Belgian academy team to become a standalone team with ESEA representation and more frequent practice by the latter half of 2026. Our full intention is for the academy roster to be a place where young Belgian talent has the opportunity to learn different perspectives on the game, tactics and training methods. We also provide the chance to attend local LAN tournaments as a team once the project has fully taken off. Our goal is to bootcamp with the academy team at our Brussels based facility three or four times a year where there will be integrated masterclasses (tactical coaching, demo analysing, performance coaching) as well as first steps in media representation (photo's and video content).
We intend for both the male and female teams to kick into gear over the next few months while we wait on more concrete information on the international tournaments such as IESF, the Esports Nation Cup (November 2026) and other national events. Player scouting will take place prior to these events, and so will practices and potential bootcamps at our facilities.
The Female team will be coached by our new head coach “heidi” and will be captained by and built around Mirte ‘Moraltis’ Horemans. Together they will aim to make Belgium a mainstay on the women’s Counter-Strike scene. We greatly encourage any female Counter-Strike players to put their best foot forward if they want to get noticed by our scouts. Anything is possible! To help in the scouting process we are opening applications for all three of our teams. Do you think you’ve got what it takes? You can find the link down below!
