Youssef Kaddar Joins Belgian Esports Federation as Advisor for Senior Esports Activities
The Belgian Esports Federation (BESF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Youssef Kaddar as the new advisor to the executive board focussing on senior esports activities. Youssef, a former professional Esports player and social worker, brings a unique blend of gaming expertise and social advocacy to his new role. His Esports career began as a Pro Evolution Soccer player from 2002 to 2008, during which he competed in over a hundred offline tournaments across Europe, winning twenty of them. Notably, he represented Belgium at the Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) in Paris in 2007.
He transitioned from gaming to social work in 2010 and founded the 'Papy Booom' association in 2015 to introduce senior citizens to new activities. The association’s creative efforts, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, garnered recognition from His Majesty the King at the Royal Palace in 2020. In September 2023, the association opened 'La Maison Papy Booom,' a non-conventional day centre for seniors.
By joining the BESF, Youssef aims to enhance the Esports scene for senior citizens.
"I am excited to contribute my expertise in the field of seniors through Esports activities for seniors that we'll be organising every year," said Youssef. His appointment underscores the BESF's commitment to inclusivity and the promotion of Esports across all age groups.
The BESF and Youssef collaborated successfully during an esports introduction event at BESF Esports Base Camp in Tour & Taxis, marking seniors' first experience with esports. Continuing that success, the BESF is confident that Youssef's blend of skills and experiences will be instrumental in engaging senior citizens in the Esports community. His vision for annual senior Esports activities promises to broaden the reach and impact of the federation's initiatives.
